Starkville Chapter History & Mission

The Junior Auxiliary of Starkville, Mississippi, is a member of the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries. Currently there are 102 Chapters in seven southeastern states with over 13,000 members.

History
February 21, 1958 :: Starkville Junior Auxiliary was born.
Twenty-nine women adopted a constitution, elected officers, and began their work to make the Starkville community a better place for children. Mrs. Ralph Harris was elected as the chapter's first president.

May 5, 1960 :: Starkville Junior Auxiliary received active status.
The National President, Mrs. James Woodward, presented the official charter at a tea on June 29. The Starkville chapter became an officially recognized member of the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries.

Mission
Junior Auxiliary represents a serious endeavor on the part of women to be active and constructive community participants and to assume leadership roles in meeting community needs. Junior Auxiliary provides members with the opportunity to serve and to be a vital part of the community. The objectives of the Association are to unite in one body all Junior Auxiliary Chapters and members to promote National and individual Chapter purposes; to encourage members to render charitable services which are beneficial to the general public, with particular emphasis on children; to cooperate with other Charitable 501(c)(3) organizations.
