Starkville Chapter Projects

The Starkville Junior Auxiliary works to improve the lives of local children through a variety of service projects and community activities. Below you will find descriptions of each of our on-going projects. For more information, please contact the project chair.

Adopt-a-Class
Chair, Sarah Harrelson
This project provides support to local kindergarten classes through class parties and enrichment activities.

Child Assistance
Chair, Amy West
This project provides essential school supplies to underserved children in the community at the beginning of each school year.

Children's Art Village
Chair, Mary Love Tagert
This project provides a learning experience for children at the Cotton District Arts Festival. Participating children have the chance to learn about different art forms and create their own works of art pieces.

Crown Club
Chair, Sarah Ryder
This project supports young women as they develop leadership and character. Open to high school juniors and seniors, the program demonstrate the job of caring for others.

Diaper Drive

This project supplies diapers to the Crisis Pregnancy Center in support of their work to provide a safe haven for young mothers and babies in the community.

Habitat for Humanity
Chair, Angela Shelton
This project supports the work of Starkville Habitat for Humanity. Our members teach new homeowners the basics of home economics, along with home and family maintenance skills.

JA Pals
Chair, Katey Overstreet
This project supports the in-house tutoring programs of local schools by providing one-on-one tutoring sessions for children who are struggling academically.

Kinderprint
Chair, Emily Lesley
This project, held during our annual Safety Town event, helps to protect local children by recording fingerprints for identification purposes.

McKee Park Update
Chair, Mary Love Tagert
This project supports the on-going efforts of the Starkville Parks and Recreation Department by researching and obtaining funding for improvements to McKee Park.

Safety Town
Chair, Norris Smith
This project strives to increase local children's awareness of safety issues through the use of a miniature safety village and assorted demonstrations for area kindergarten classes.

Safety Town Update/Cotton District Arts Festival Prep
Chair, Ginger Lee
This project manages the set-up, take-down, and maintenance of our Safety Town village. Members also manage set-up and take-down of the children's village during the Cotton District Arts Festival.

Stuff the Sleigh
Chair, Nikki Rives
This annual toy drive provides Christmas gifts for underserved children in the community.

T.K. Martin
Chair, Christan Toney
This project provides enrichment activities for the developmentally disabled children of the T.K. Martin Center at Mississippi State University.
